Something evil is brewing...My camera was hostage taking pictures of budget Break and mufflers all around BC and I haven't had access to my camera for a while. When my dad and bro got back I told them that it might be best to buy me out as I've moved and no longer have immediate access. Today a rain storm recently ended and at dusk I was attracted to the light qualities in the water. After 25 seconds it was the sky that blew me away and the water seems so-so comparitively. This must be the 10th picture I've posted here taken from this balcony. The red light on the left is residue from the city.
Critique and comment is encouraged.
Great sky!

Spectacular shot.
Great as is, but IMO the effect would be even greater if you crop a little sky off of the top with a more pano look as a bonus. Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.
nice one Dave !
great colours, sets a great mood in this image... i think i know where that was taken from...
agree a pano look would give the shot more impact..... cheers bp Last edited by big pix on Tue May 17, 2005 8:45 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Cheers ....bp....
Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
hmmm, me too.
What about cropping a little bit less of the sky and more of the trees below? Maybe I'll try a little in the morning (probly not I'm way too lazy).
Very cool pic, Dave. So, are they buying you out and are you getting a new cam or what? That's a bummer, not having ready access.

yeah, but a new cam is cool though. Got to save a little money though (and I was hoping to get a new Epson p2000 next). It will be nice not having to share a camera with them. It really was a bit of pain only having it on weekends.

Crazy colors. I like Vancouver a lot. But only to visit.

Yeah, Albertans and British Columbians mix like a Nikon Lens on a Canon body. I sort of like the Albertan American Cowboy style of economics, with the BC sense of green protection (it will never happen). As long as the Liberals stay in power we should be all right.

This is one awesome shot. Definitely like the original better than the pano. The colours are just superb. Peter

very impressive, the colours really come out really well, just shows how good timing and great camera and lens can produce

Great colour, reflection, atmosphere, does horizon need straightening? Maybe it's my eyes?

You know Ozimax, I really don't think so as I used a tripod and was pretty sure i had it completely level, but I find that sea shots around here can be a little deceiving as the land juts into it making it look crooked. I had a problem with a lighthouse picture once, when I fixed the horizon the lighthouse leaned, and when I made the lighthouse straight the horizon leaned, so i went with the light house as I realized that where the land comes into the horizon it threw me off. Could be wrong with this one though.
This is a great shot Dave and I've got to agree I think the original is the better of the two. The sky gives it more impact.

FantasticA fantastic image. I prefer the original, the cropping seems to reduce the imact of the menace build into such a dramatic sky.
Again, one great image. Terry "Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gismos. Photography is about photographers. A camera didn't make a great picture any more than a typewriter wrote a great novel." -Peter Adams, Sydney 1978
Hey Dood, I still reckon that it needs to go 1.5 deg CW, but then again, maybe it's my eyes again? I've looked at photos for ages trying to determine whether or not they need straightening and can never make up my mind! Never mind... Great shot tho', will have to visit up there one of these days, been as far north as Montana. Max President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Hey Oz,
I just put it through and you're right, the horizon was off just a hair. Thanks for the recommendation (I tend to forget this sometimes which is a no-no when the ocean's horizon is involved.)
