The helmet flash solves two problems, fill flash and how to get your subject to smile. Notice how in all examples the models is smiling or laughing  Well found Jdear

you'd certainly get some smiles from your subjects - agreed!

funnily enough i found this on another forum on the topic of the lightsphere!!

I want to make one! - if not just to document people's responses!

GREAT! all i need is a d70, a DB800, helmet...

I can see a business idea forming...

2 people shooting with helmet flashs, around darling harbour / circular quay - tourist areas, shooting digitally and photos sent wirelessly to the stall setup. Dressed in very "loud" uniforms. (maybe on stilts??)

Stall has a few dye sub printers and laptop / desktop to receive incoming images.

After the photographer/s has shot the subjects they are given a business card which says "you've been shot by blah company" and then on the back a map to get to the kiosk / stall to pick up the photos.

photos are charged at $5, $10 etc dependent on size.

i reckon you'd fit right in with the other "showfreaks" around the area.

That helmut was actually designed by the Japanese airforce for dropping quick airborne reaction forces into combat.

That's right Matt, and the flash is used for temporarily blinding the enemy.

These are classic inventions! They make the Lightsphere II look tame. I can't imagine actually being able to walk around with that reflector on - it would have to be harder than actually carrying a reflector in one hand and shooting with the other.

Cool find

I'd rather wear a propeller on a beanie than that ridiculous getup.

They really dropped the ball by not adding a drink holster with a huge straw leading to the mouth for Beverages while your shooting, otherwise this thing would make pretty good sense. I also would have added a little fan to cool me down during the really warm days on the beach.
