BBJ,
Finally, you've gone down that road! bravo!!! Prepare a forest of flood light to shoot when the sky ceiling is low and lack of lighting. Birddog114

Yeh thanks all the light was failing at the time rather fast but yeh just a small test while i had the chance, inbetween doing orders.

1/ That's the nature of the TC on the slow lens, will be worst when overcast or not a bright lighting. The 80-400 will hunt alot and you'll miss the shot. 2/ I got the same result with my 70-200VR + TC-20 in low light, that why I did not recommend the TC-20 instead of 1.7. Birddog114

Yeh Birdy but i think it will have it place somewhere, not that i would use it on the 80-400 all the time but i had no problems with focus and well i think i will use it a bit when trying to catch them surfers who seem to surf so damn far out so the extra reach might be ok.
Will try it out another time as i had a canon user turn up so yeh time will tell.Oh yeh at 560mm u would expect them to be a bit soft as these are from camera no sharpning at all. Cheers D3,D2x,D70,18-70 kit lens,Sigma 70-200mm F2.8EX HSM,Nikon AF-I 300m F2.8, TC20E 2X

John - not bad at all mate. A teleconvertor will always give a slightly softer pic but very handy when you need the extra reach

Well thanks all, well i went outside awhile ago again with the 80-400 and yeh smooth as in operation, i find the focussing is much the same so hasn't slowed it down at all, every now and then it hunted a bit but i think it was actually less than without the tc,although i havent used the 80-400 for awhile and well we all have to expect a bit of softness but i can live with that. On the Sigma 70-200 it does focus ok but now and then i find it doesn't, but that could be me still not used to this lens yet as if you are too close to something and try to focus it wont so u need to step back a bit but thats not what i wanted to use it on anyhow. I am more ineterested with it on the 80-400 and well so far i think it is great even at F 5.6 and 560mm i think it will work well for getting that bit closer.
Ok i did get this from Poon as i emailed to see if they had any and well seems they are in demand so i think they got a few in so i was lucky and yeh i think it will become attached to the 80-400 from now on, maybe i will hit the lakes get some duck pics or maybe go to the beach for a drive on the weekend and see if i can get some surf shots. By the way i put in for a job with a country Newspaper over the border in Victoria which advertised for a casual photographer to do some football shots/baseball from interleague games. Got a phone call yesterday saying i have got the job well 2 of us have the job as 1 other photog here alreadys covers football but i dont go as to not tread on his toes pluss i hate it.LOL They will pay $50 a picture and i retain the copyright, any photo sales will be directed to me and they will use the shots in either of there 2 papers. So this is a bonus. Well just got home from work better go play with me rubber ducks in the tub. LOL Cheers John D3,D2x,D70,18-70 kit lens,Sigma 70-200mm F2.8EX HSM,Nikon AF-I 300m F2.8, TC20E 2X

Yes Birdy sorry was planning on getting it from u, as normal and anyhow 1 late night i was on ebay and emailed to see if any in stock the other week and well was debating and bit the bullet. Was a spare of the moment kind of thing, sorry but well the boss was sitting here and i was doing the sums and yeh had an impulse. I know you lead a busy life so yeh, then i had another urge to get a flash which i got from you. She who must be obeyed tells me that it for awhile. Well big stuff anyways.

Yeh well i have to learn to stay away from ebay and place like that, but yeh i have to start saving now for a bit for my next purchase, LOl think u can swing a 300mm f/2.8 over ? I wish and well yeh maybe oneday but yeh i think maybe something smaller next time but have to look into some portable storage as well. But in good time. Anyhow will have to keep she who must be obeyed happy for a bit.
