The moon now AESTFor those that can see the moon right now, check out the moon and get snapping with your tripod!! I think something is telling me to get a new tripod - my trusty velbon tripod just broke as I was setting up for this fantastic moon opportunity!

Nothing special at all, but my first serious attempt at a moon shot. Yes, this was taken with the 70-300G

moonrise and set tablesI'm not sure if people know about these moon rise tables courtesy of the American Navy, but thought this might be a good spot to pop them up:
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneYear.html They're also sunrise and sunset tables for everywhere on the planet. Their full list of services are at: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/ regards Bob After I posted this I realised other moon time software had been the subject of a previous discussion in another place on the forum. OK Geoff... You prompted me to go out in the cold...
Here's my attempt... Not as good as some that I've seen, but I'm happy with it. 1/640s F5.6 80-400VR (without VR) - cruddy Velbon tripod. Cheers, John
