OK folks, I'm really sorry, but I've had an idea for a new D70Users weekly contest...
Let's see how it goes... If it's not popular, be assured, I'll give up very quickly...
The rules are very simple...
You will be presented with a 100% crop from a D70User's photo... Please identify what it might be...
Each member only has one guess...
I won't respond until someone guesses correctly (or pretty damn close)... If no-one guesses it, the answer will be announced on the following Fri/Sat along with the full picture that the crop was taken from...
There are no prizes this time (maybe, just maybe in the future)... Only kudos this time I'm afraid...
I have a few photos ready to go over the next few weeks... After that, I'll accept submissions from other members...
If you have a 100% crop that you would like to challenge other members with, please PM me the link and I will publish it with accreditation.
Here is my challenge for this week...
1/400" - F8, Aperture priority, ISO 1600, 80-400VR

Good one John. This should be fun. Although I have to admit, I have absolutely no idea what it could be!!! Not even a remote inkling.

I'm with you Greg. I was expecting nothing. I think John means a crop of an image piece being displayed at full size in the post, but I'm probably totally wrong

Bunch of pedants!!!
It is a small crop of a larger picture, displayed in this message at 100% size... Is that clear now?

OK... Here's the second crop challenge in this series...
This one was submitted by Johndec... I don't have a clue what it is, so he will have to let us know when someone has made a correct guess...
If anyone wants to challenge their fellow members, then PM me a link to the cropped image of your choice and I'll use them in the order that they come in...
My guess was the suspension of a Jeep... (which was incorrect)

Drum roll please..tatatatatatatat.... we have a WINNER
Congrats Dargan, you are right, like I said as American as crack cocaine and nuclear weapons
It's a pic of the basketball hoop at Birddogs, taken one day at a minimeet whilst playing DOF games with an 80-400VR.
To all the Sydney members who have been to a minimeet... Hang your heads in shame Considering it is part of the most photographed backyard in Australia, I thought one of you would get it in a flash!! An out of towner got the cash

Looks to me like the fake woodgrain surface you see on weatherboard or fibro wall panels on buildings.
Unpainted, of course.

thehikingdude: As a keen skier I've spent plenty of time in North America, I saw this image and immediately thought that looks like marks in groomed snow, but did not submit it for a while becuase it is coming into summer in your part of the world, and even though it is winter here, there is no snow because it is so dry. I thought there would be no snow photos around (wrong.....leek is obviously a tricky bugga!) So I held back from posting my guess. In the end I thought "ahh stuff it, thats what I think it is" and posted it!
