Pro Show Gold - amazing!Hello all,
I am just about to purchase a copy of Pro Show Gold, to make online and DVD versions of photo collections, great for portrait shoots, weddings etc and quite easy to use! I used the shareware version for the first time today and am stoked with the results and a bit of tinkering/playing around...I strongly suggest this software! For more info go to http://www.photodex.com. Geoff

I have used it, but can't get it to burn DVDs or CDs.
My burner is on the list of supported drives that Pro Show Gold supports but it does not work. My drive has worked fine with every other thing I have used with it, eg Nero and other software but does not work with pro show gold. Pity This leads me to conclude that Pro Show Gold is not as compatible as it makes out and still has issues with certain hardware. However if it does happen to work with your setup it is a pretty neat program. A bit limited in some ways but still pretty good.
Ok. I have had a play with ProShow Gold and without a doubt it is the best. So many features and extras that Ulead doesn't have.
I will be looking to purchase Proshow Gold. I wont be using Ulead again anyway. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to put images on to DVD then Ulead may be for you, but I will be using Proshow from now on.
I will try and burn a test one now.
I have a couple of version of pro showgold and have done a few cds with it with music, it was good as i have 20,000+ mp3s on this puter so added some nice music to them and works well. Proggy about 5 meg in size.

Yup - my very first trial of the s/w earlier this evening, creating a DVD was simple, and I've tried it on two independent DVD players in the house...I am, in a word 'stoked'

Have a look at this!!Ok...please be aware this was my VERY first attempt with the software, and it was the trial software, but I made a version for web viewing. I'm not sure exactly how long it took to load as I left the PC and came back...so if you're not on broadband perhaps it won't be a short wait, however..you can see my first DVD by going to

It gets the thumbs up from me too. I have only produced 2 dvd's with it so far - but am very impressed. I compared with other software of its type before I made the decision to go with Proshow Gold - but that testing was very minimalist.
cheers, Craig
Thanks embi.
Geoff I looked at the slideshow you posted. Your photos are very good and the slide show itself as well. Well done. I think its time to download the trial now..just to make sure I have no issues with my LiteOndvd writer. On a different note so far all dvds I produced phots or otherwise on my LiteOn dvd write played on most lounge room dvd players except mine (panasonic rv32), souns like they dont like each other cheers, ajax Hope is immortal...
Ok. tried the ISO image. Works only just, but completely unwatchable.
I played a bit with my setup etc and I got it to go all the way through the burning process but it still doesn't play correctly. Infact only the DVD menu comes up on TV. Cant go into the movie. And the website says my DVD burner is a supported burner. argh....now i have a set of 6 white 4.7Gb coasters
A bit late to this party, but there are a number of posts here where I extolled the virtues of this product so I won't say HOW GOOD IT IS again. I've used it heaps. Occasionally I have had problems during the create stage and tracked it down to my UltraMon screen saver so I just turn that off when I'm creating the output. I generally create an ISO and then burn with nero so I can do extra copies if I want.
Embi - you're probs sound strange. If the image burnt with Nero using a ProShow ISO doesn't work then ProShow compatability with your DVD burner isn't the problem. Do other DVDs created on that burner play back on your standalone DVD player? Peter

I had similar problems but fortunately was playing around with DVD RW discs. My problem was that I had to remove the initial PSG banner from the DVD and then it worked - cannot remeber setting off hand but uncheck a button that shows the PSG banner (this is shown prior to the menu) Try it anyway. Cheers
Georgie
I have never had problems with DVD's burnt with my burner on any DVD player before. Not sure what it is.
I might give this a go as the PSG banner plays correctly and the rest doesnt.
What georgie says is a possible cause since I have it turned OFF when I create DVDs. Good luck Peter

been using Proshow Gold also, can't seem to have clear photos when making slideshow in VCD format. Any tips how to achieve same quality images like when creating .EXE slideshow?
Hi Guys
I don't have the program and this is just a guess...but do you have to set it to PAL...which is the Australian TV standard rather then NSTC or whatever the hell it is? Or maybe it's the other way around? But check your output anyway. Regards
Matt. K
SVCD, while not as good as DVD, is also higher res than VCD. If I am making disks for other people, I usually use this because most home DVD players seem to play it first up. I find DVDs are problematic for some home players. TFF (Trevor)

Been away for a couple of days so only just trying it now.
I have removed the PSG banner and created an ISO image. Its burning to disk as I type. 1 thing I have noticed though when burning from the ISO image is that it wont let me burn to a DVD disk. It asks for a CD disk. I have checked that I am in DVD mode in Nero but it still wants a CD. It happened the last time I used nero for burning the ISO from PSG too. I'll let you know the results of the burn soon anyway.
