Matt,

Just out of curiousity, why don't you ever embed images in your posts? For example the image in question here is only 78kb, which isn't in any way, shape or form too large :?:

I would love to be able to do this...but my Pbase account name has some illegal characters in it. I will work on this and try and get it changed. Thanks for the impetus.

Gary you will love it - I had mine for 18 months before having to give up driving - if you ever see a bright yellow SLK230 with the number plate N*SL230 that was mine

Marcus,

er ...

um ....

yeah, that's it: $0.00 each ...

My accounts are thrilled at that level of income. :)

Chris, it's a pre-loved variety.

Actually, it's a pre-ignored variety: 7 years old and just 6300 km! Still has the new car smell.

John. Very spooky. I was just reading Matt's "everyday" photo's post and wondered the same thing. Thought I'd PM him to ask. Now I don't need to 8)

Matt

If I took this image I'd be more than happy, but I'm also a very critical bastard. As a capture of the event it's excellent and I understand you only got a tiny window to shoot this, but for me the shot at a technical level just misses the mark. I've looked at it, gone away and then come back a few times, but the slight blur on the rear and, to a lesser extent, on Gary and Leigh really distracts me. Sorry.

Peter: I think technically the shot is fine, it's just PS work that you don't like. No way in hell it's motion blur: 1/500 s at around 20-30 km/h != motion blur!

Trent

I'm a little slow sometimes. Guess I should be criticising his PS technique, what with Matt being the master and all. Raises another question though - how did he get Leigh to sit still while he took the shot

That blur on Leigh and myself is how we really look. I thought you'd have noticed that by now. :)

Of course I Photoshopped the image. I was tired and did it very quickly....and as you all have observed, not very well. It took 5 minutes...select the wheels...BLUR/RADIAL BLUR...select the whole car and invert the selection and BLUR/MOTION BLUR. Posted and went to bed. It's nice to know that you guys can pick a bodgey job a mile away...because it means I'll have to be very precise and very careful when I next PP if I really want to pull the wool over your eyes.

I guess you're just an all around straight up Bastard then. This is btw one of my favorite words.

Funny story, when I was working the oil rigs I was playing Playstation Football with this guy from Mississippi. Others were in there too and this guy kicked my butt. After going up like 54-3 I called him a bastard and the room went silent. I was like, "what?" This big redneck from mississippi just stared at me ready to crush everything within my sweaty skin. He goes, "do you know what that means?" I say, "uhhh yeah but we don't think about it much where I come from." Apparently down there it strikes a little close to home. Then I asked him, "do you know what MF means, you use that a lot? He looks at me, "well yeah".

It was one of those defining moments for me.
