Transfer Problem mem Card

Postby BBJ on Mon May 30, 2005 12:03 pm

Hi All, i have a problem that occurs lets say most of the time, when i transfer my memory cards from card reader PS Elements opens and loads all the pics up from the card but when i get the files part way through the process i get an error about 80% into process. Card can not transfer, check batteries etc.

Ok so i kill elements and do it normal way, put the card out put back in open the folder and transfer folder to pc and sometimes a sim thing happens stops part way through. I then have to pull card from card reader and reinsert open folder and transfer the rest of the files.

Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
John

John, can't say I've had any such problems. But there is a post about cards that suggests you should format card in camera between transfers. It'd definately be worth a try to see if this fixes the problem.

Cheers

Although I haven't run into any problems, my friend has had issues with a corrupted segment (or whatever the term is) on his CF. Every time he wrote to the same spot (ie. same file number) it would corrupt the image. He got around this by taking 2-3 blank shots and locking them (to prevent deletion). That way he wouldn't lose any valuable shots. I think it was a Ridata card IIRC.
This obviously isn't the same problem an you have, but is it happening at the same spot? Any of the images end up being corrupted? BTW is it happening on different cards or just the one & what brand is it?

Hi Joolz, yes well does it on both cards Astone, at first i put it down to PS Elements and so i do it manually and well sometimes does the same. Gives some bogus msg that transfer error please check batteries etc... lol doesnt have any, could just be a glitch somewhere with pc but nothing major and i am not loosing any files and they are not corupted just a pain that you need to reload card reader open folder and transfer reast of file where it stopped.
Thanks

Try to use Nikon View instead of to see if it's the same problem, I heard problem with PSE but not sure if this relates to your case.

Hi John
I use PSE 3, and whenever I put a card in my card reader, PSE 3 opens automatically, reads pix and asks if I want to download.

So far, I have not had the problem you describe. I am using a SanDisc card.

Actually, I think I might look for a way to disable the automatic download, because I normally look at my pix in Nikon View first, identify the ones I want to PP, and then open them in PSE 3.

Cheers

BTW Nikon View also has an auto upload feature so that when you insert the CF the files will copy across.
