Yolanda at the Empire Monday nightSome people go to the Empire Hotel in Annandale for the Blues on Wednesdays, others to the women in Pop Tarts on Monday night.
Yolanda Thomas was very impressive last night. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjlhughes/16428995/ On the other hand I'm still struggling to achieve punchy black and white images. All suggestions gratefully received. Bob
I like the shot, Bob. It's very high contrast though, which won't appeal to a lot of folks.
Dunno what to tell you about getting punchy B&W. AFAIK, there's no easy way to do that, because each subject would require something different and it's easy to overdo. my gallery of so-so photos

To me that IS punchy B&W and suits the subject matter perfectly (IMO). Good capture and processing. Nikon D70, Nikon F80, Rollei 6008 Pro, Plaubel 5x4, Elinchrom 4K floorpacks and heads.
Great work, and yes the PPing does suit the subject well... looks really good!
