Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

I had half an hour to kill at the airport today and managed to get this head on view of a cargo 747... Another 20mm zoomed out and I would have got the wing-tips as well... :? Next time... I'm quite happy with the shot though...

The 747 was turning off the run-way after landing and I only got the rushed shot because of the VR...

Looks like a Cathy Pacific Cargo Plane. I got a shot of one of these at Tullamarine a few weeks back.

Excellent pic - shame about the fact you clipped it's wings :wink:

The front on works exceptionally well and the OOF buildings almost look like engine vapour.

I used the lookout round the back of the old control tower... It's a pretty good spot...

Thanks Peter... The OOF buildings are actually oil tanks and there was a bit of heat haze involved...

There's a couple of Ethylene tanks there as well - pretty full at the moment too! ;)

That's a great photo Leek! Love the haze in the background :) Too bad the dumb pilot had to point the wheels to his right, otherwise it would've been a nice symmetrical shot...heheh could always photoshop it :P Just kidding mate, top pic! :)

I would actually argue that the clipped wings don't take away from this image. One of the reasons (I think) you took the picture of this particular machine is that it is so large, and the clipped wings add a little mystery to just how large it is. It creates a little bit of tension, and I say the clipped wings are a good thing.

You guys are too hard and to fussy!, take it easy with leek, otherwise he will sneak out from work again and waiting for taking a photo of the same aircraft non-clipped wing, then he get no job after :cry:
He has done a great capture, he'll bring the full scale of an Airbus 380 to you soon, stay tuned 8)

Thanks Birdy - and thanks to everyone else that commented...

I've been playing with the image a little more and here's a cropped version of the same NEF that might emphasise the scale of this beast even more...

Same problem with wing clipping though... but I got slightly more of the wings this time...

ahh the beach :D you can actually wander around to the fenceline at the end of the carpark and get pics like this http://www.airliners.net/open.file/553692/M/ (and yes, that is my pic). I never really appreciated the size of 747's until I got up close
