A new review site

Postby MHD on Thu Jun 02, 2005 12:26 am

I have just started putting together a lens review site based on my experiences with different gear: F-mount lenses (welcome other brands), Bags, Support, flashes, and assorted on http://kit.potofgrass.com

If anyone wants to contribute an opinion which is based on a lens you dont have used but are not familiar with, or a review on a lens you own giving your views o Practicality, Quality and Value eg http://kit.potofgrass.com/index.php?mod ... d=1&meid=3 Give us a yell!

Very happy to recive multiple reviews on the same lens! (makes it more even)

Each opinion/review will get an add (see the right bar that shows the ads, send me a small (max 200 pix wide 150 pix high) image and link to the site you want to promote....

The reviews on my old site (potofgrass.ath.cx now defunct and transfered to http://kit.potofgrass.com ) recieved about 2 views per day.... The aim is to colect peoples views on different pieces of equipment together... and to create a good content based site as well of course :D

really great idea....and a very nice looking site too. Well done.

Just one small critisism....watch the spelling mistakes. I noticed a couple in the 50mm 1.8D review and also for the poll on the mainpage "I would like to more about"...perhaps it is supposed to read "I would like to know more about" ??

Other than this, I think it might be a winner. Will it remain a Nikon review site, or when the forum goes to DSLR Users, will you incorporate reviews from other manufacturers/users ??

With the calibre of users on this forum alone it will be a MUST READ website for anyone stuck in the world of Lens Lust, Flash Lust or Camera Lust.....which is basically all of us

Good luck with it all !!!

Dave :-)

And the calculator. ;)
However I must acknowledge the existance of the 50/1.8 which, if you dont need the extra 0.4 stop offers just as good Bokeh and sharpness as the 50/1.4

f/1.8 to f/1.4 is nearly 3/4 of a stop (0.725), not 0.4. Sorry, just being a bit anal, call it Stubbsy's disease.

Looks good Scott, one comment though: make sure all your reviews of the same type (e.g. lens reviews) follow the same format. For example the 'D' in the 50/1.4 review comes under the description, whereas for the 50/1.8 review it comes under 'features'.

Trent

You've got it all wrong, it's not a disease - it's a calling

Scott. Great idea. Now to think about a suitable first lens to review.
