Thanks, Finno. :D I'll be posting some other macro stuff, from this lens and the others. IMO, if you take the time to do it right, you can get excellent photos from any of the lenses and combos we discussed. The differences, at least IME and the subjects that I shoot, are the ease at which you can get there. If you wish to see the shots I already have on line, they are all marked as to the lenses utilized, which includes some pretty good shots from the 24-120vr, with a Kenko TC and the 500d, IIRC.

Very!! nice pics Kerry.

I took at look at the RRP on that lens and quietly closed the webpage again :shock:

Only minor nit that I would point out is that the white rose pic has quite a noisy background, which Im sure NN or NeatImage would clear up?

The 1st rose is of a beautiful ruby color and nice composition, I really love it.
The 2nd rose is also of beautiful colours and nice composition, I love it too.
I love both and I envy that lens.

Chris: Not bad for a non-Sigma lens, do ya think? :lol:

Mic: Thanks, but I don't need any more thorns... :?

Rob: Yes, it's not a cheap lens. Not sure what you mean about the noisy background. Both were only shot at ISO 800. :D I don't find the backgrounds objectionable, but you're right, I'm sure some NR would smooth it out.

Matt: You think I'd use a cheap trick like a spray bottle?? :shock: 8)

Ozimax: umm, I don't think I have much, if any "ultra micro stuff". That takes a lot more time and patience than I generally have... Dunno what I've got with this lens, that might have heaps of microscopic detail. I'll post what I have, in that regard. Right now, I don't have access to many interesting insects and the ones I do have, like to play hide and seek... :(

I certainly wouldnt say its objectionable and it was only a very minor nitpick. The pics are VERY good for ISO800. But thats D70 noise for you, nice and smooth and just looks a bit like grain really.
