Mikhail - no tripod so bracket & merge isn't an option. Took this using my monopod, then enhanced in NC (levels, USM and a Nik Color Efex sunhine filter)

Chris, I likey, that's a really cool shot.

I find that comparing shots on the web as far as lenses go problematic as there are so many other factors to consider that might be construed as lens image quality (iso, compression, colour probs when uploading etc) What do people look for when they are comparing image quality between lenses? This is definitely the next lens on my purchase list. I'm sort of waiting to see what the Sigma 10-19 is going to be like though. Anyone heard anything about it?

Nikkor and Sigma, all are doing well in landscape & architecture photography, the Nikkor is more lighter and convenient with front filter and cost more than AU$300 against its competitor.
I have and love the Nikkor 12-24Dx but won't work on my F5
All shots above from CD, stubbsy, MCWB, sihrc55, Glen, big pix are great with both lens.
Get the Nikkor if you can afford it otherwise head to the Sigmaway.

birddog's advice is spot on. If money is tight get the Sigma. Otherwise get the Nikkon. Both are very good lenses. The reality is that the price differential is greater than the lens differential in terms of things like utility and build quality.

Dave: The Nikkor has more barrel distortion at 12 mm than the Sigma, which gets to me, as I'm rather sensitive to distortion for some reason (which is why I can't stand fisheye pics, but anyway ). The big plus with the Nikkor is that it takes filters, so you can get that great CPL look. I have the Sigma and it's great, I sometimes wish I also had the Nikkor, but only for the filter ability. I wouldn't say one is better than the other overall, they both have their strong and weak points.

I think someone on here has the Tokina-flavoured one don't they? I'm very interested in the Sigma 10-20 which takes 77 mm filters (nice), will have to see how it turns out with respect to distortion.
