Looking for a small bag; any tips ?

I'm trying to find a small camera bag that'll take my D70 with the kit lens, plus a 70-300 zoom and maybe a spare battery. My current backpack is great, but a bit cumbersome on family outings. I'd happily consider something that takes an external lens case, but I've not been able to find anything suitable in my local (UK) camera shops.

Any suggestions ?

Hi,

have a look at a Lowepro EX160.
If it is still available, it will carry a little bit more and is very manageble.

Have a look at a few of the crumpler shoulder bags.

The quality is great and you can clip on additional lense puches onto the sides.

Get something that has a little room for something that you're planning on getting one day, as well as some room for something that you aren't planning on getting, because you never know.

I had the same problem, I got a Lowepro "Nova 4 AW" it holds the D70, lens attached, plus 70-300, 24-120 filters, cleaning gear, manual and other small bits and pieces. I now only use the backpack on long walks away from crowds.
St. Albans England? Whats it like, one of my favourite places for a Sunday arvo drink and some R&R is The St Albans Pub NSW about 2.5 Hrs from Sydney Established 1836 in the Mc Donald Valley, one of the oldest & longest operating hotels in the country.
St Albans has the pub, a gallery about 20 houses 2 churches and a cemetary.

try the Lowepro OffRoad - I'm finding it really good. and it's able to carry quite a bit. You can take the lens pods off the ends if you don't need them for the day...

The LowePro Topload Zoom 2 would be good for what you want, but I'd also look at the Nova 2 or Nova 4 if you want room for expansion.

I use a NOVA 1 that I had for my F65.

Fits D70 + Kit+ 70-300+50 1.8 but then she's full.

Good size rather than taking whole backpack.

One gripe the shoulder strap is not long enough to go over your head.

If possible, check out the Tamrac 508. I got it specifically for my D70, kit lens, 70-300G, SB800 and there's still room to spare for extra gadgets when needed. Very well made with nice features. Trust me, it's not as big as they make it look nor will it hold as much as they suggest.
