great shot Trevor... great colours and contrast!
how are you finding the lens? are those colours tweaked in PS etc or straight from the shot? cheers mate.. http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
G'day Mark The lens is great - very sharp and contasty. I find auto-focus for macro work to be a bit problematic. Manual focus seems to work best for me. I have PPd this shot. I applied some Gaussian blur to the background. With most pix from my camera, I find that I need to tweak saturation and sharpness. I hope I'm improving in that area. Cheers TFF (Trevor)

Nice shot...but screaming out for some PP in Photoshop. I would suggest selecting the iris using the pen tool with the image magnified to 200% and then inverting the selction and blurring the background. Then add a canvas texture to the background and maybe darken the background. This would make the iris pop. Regards
