I particularly like the first four, they are very good.

In the water shots how do you get the plastic texture of water? Is it due to the filter used or time of exposure? They are very good pics! Especially the one of my cousin.

I think, mainly just the time of the exposure, but also i used a polarising filter which took the reflection off the water and added that transperant / slightly opaque look to it ... where its "whited" out is generally where the water was actually frothing or whatever you call it when water no longer looks like glass, and looks like white froth! :)

didnt keep any of the ones from when i didnt use the filter, because they were all too blown out. (it was about 10 minutes earlier, and a bit too bright.)

obviously the filter allows to slow down the photo and get some richer colours in, with the amount of light available.

The first four shots are excellent!

That kangaroo needs to see a vet urgently though. That's the worst case of red eye I've seen for a while :D

Seems like you had a great weekend though.

If you were camping here in south east Queensland, you would have spent some time swimming!
At least your tent would have been very clean - that's if it hadn't floated away.

Cheers and thanks for the pics

I agree with the comments about the surreal look of the water. Have seen this done nicely before, and think you have captured this effect so well also. Well done! What was the shutter speed for these shots so that I have some idea of how to achieve this same effect in future?
Thanks

 you reckon i should have turned on red-eye reduction aye? haha. ISO1600 ... wasnt bad for a very drunken fumble through the bushes chasing the little guys ... I really need an external speedlite. .. focal length was 300mm

yeh i heard about your flooding ... nasty, particularly those two girls. Cant imagine what the family feels.

ps, heres another shot of the evil roo. They were only small ones, western grey maybe?

cheers for the nice comments. A circular polariser is a must for these shots, otherwise the top of the water reflection washed it out. (well, in the angles that i was shooting from anyway.)

To see the exposure data for any of these shots, you can view them on my actual site. eg go to http://darb.net/gooralong (the album the photos reside in) click on the image you want to know about, and underneath the image it will display full image data ... let me know if you have trouble finding it.

it should show someting like this under the photo ;

Excellent photos of the creek. I love the plasticity effect you've created. Looks great and captures the movement of the water really well.

I'm a bit worried by that grey kangaroo though. i will never look at one the same again. :)

Great pics.
