Photographers Rights & CopyrightI know this topic has been up for discussion several times before, but I thought I'd post a brilliant link to the official stance on copyright and photographers rights.. as according to the copyright council of Australia.
Eg. http://www.copyright.org.au http://www.copyright.org.au/publications/G011.pdf I've just printed this out and will now keep it with me when I'm out and about taking photo's. Geoff http://www.gleff.com

Nice find! Thanks for that info...ahh so many legalities Wouldn't mind having a printed copy stuffed in my camera bag so the next time someone questions me about taking photos of a buildling, i can tell them to stick their nose elsewhere Unless of course I'm in the Sydney foreshore....err depending on the circumstance
Actually, my understanding of that document is, you're allowed to take a picture of the sydney foreshore, as long as it's not for commercial purposes.

Thanks Geoff
Very useful stuff. Now could someone please condense it into 1 para for my small, non-legalese brain? Something I could carry on a laminated card in my minni-trekkor would be good. Regards

Thanks Geoff. Good find

So if I take a pic from the foreshore for personal use, but then decide to sell it, is that ok? It wasn't taken for commercial purposes, that just ended up a good side-effect! *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
I had a read of this the other day and i came to the conclusion that you can take a photo of the Sydney harbour foreshore (SHF) and use it for commercial purposes so long as the photo does not contain any of the areas specified in the SHF Act of 1998. But if you can locate the map that is specified in the Act then you have done one better than me.
I also noticed a loophole in the wording that said something along the lines of PHOTGRAPH TAKEN ON THE SHF, which means to me that you can use an image of the Bridge and Opera House commercially so long as it was not taken on NSW property, so Garden Island Dockyard, which is Commonwealth Property, could be excluded from the act in this instance. Interesting. Steve.
