Photographic assistant

Postby Grev on Thu Jun 09, 2005 8:27 pm

Can any of you wiser people (or pros) guide me on how to acquire such a job?

And if any of you pros that are from Brisbane and would want to hire one, can you please hire me? :)

I'm also wondering what other types of occupations there are that are related to photography? I can think of lab assistants, that's about it...

Apply for them in a paper.

Short of getting experience in a photography course or fine arts course and applying through a paper, I'd have no idea.

I've got a couple of friends who are assistants for labs and studios in Sydney and all of them were doing the Photographic major like myself in the Fine Arts degree.

Just approach a well known or high profile Photography agency and tell them you would like to be a photographers assistant, stress that your willing to do what it takes to gradually climb your way to the top.

my teacher once said, that as an "assistant" he spent many years cleaning toilets, and carrying things before he ever got to ever use their cameras.
