Night shots of Darwin Parliament House

I really like the second one, but the first is a little too orange for my tastes although this is always a problem with night shots like these. The reason I prefer the second is the grass in the foreground adds some colour balance and contrast. I'd suggest you try cropping a little tighter on the left to remove the posts to the left of the building.

Basically, what Peter said.

I think the primary issue with the first one isn't so much the colour balance, but more that it's a tad over-exposed. Perhaps dial it down about 2/3 stop?

Also what lens did you use for this image? the distortion of the columns on the extreme right might like to be corrected.

I agree with both Peter and Gary - you could try dialling in some blue compensation in the first shot with PS or similar.

The shots were taken using shutter priority, with a 24-120mmVR lens. The second one was taken inside my car out from my window as there was nowhere to park and too many drunks were on foot to get out.

Does it the far right look distored ? I can't really tell or how to tell for that matter, it just looks darker cause there is not lights in that area

It's more an issue of converging verticals. Look at the columns in the centre of the image - where the door is. They are vertical, and appear to be so.

Now look at the columns on the rhs, which are parallel to the others, yet are not parallel with the rh edge of the image - they lean in.

Both NC and PS contain ways to remedy that sort of effect, and I'm suggesting that using ome of those remedies might help to improve the image.

Oh ok.....sorry i don't know what i'm looking for in a photo at times compared to the more experienced, thought there was something wrong with the lens so would this be a normal thing then ?
