Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Photos from a School Play

I attended the year 11 play at school last night... Mainly because mini-leek had a cameo role as a fairy in the play...

It was rather bizarre as all the parts of men and boys were played by girls (it's a girls only school)... It was set in the late 60s which made for some very groovy outfits and costumes...

I took the camera along, intending just to take a few shots of my little fairy, but in the end managed to take over 100 shots of the play...

Call me crazy, but I'm going to give them to the school and allow them to raise money by selling them to the kids and parents...

I mainly used the Nikkor 50mm 1.4 and 105mm and managed to get very reasonable exposures at ISO800... even from the 6th row of the audience...

Here are a few, so that you see the sort of quality that is possible without flash...

All look pretty good to me, John. I don't think you're crazy for giving them to the school. :D

John, great photos. Love the colours :)

The saturation in the last one could be increased a bit though.

Giving it to the school is good, I guess...at least if they're thrilled with the photos, they might contract you later on :)

And it's good to see that the school didn't get heavy in terms of trying to stop you from taking photos at this event.

I think you need to make that acknowledgement to them when you give them your images. It can't hurt ... :)

Which reminds me ... any progress on the swim centre?
