Photoshop D70 IR and all things nice...Statement:
when taking photos with an infrared filter anchored on the front you need to set the white balance to a lovley shade of green, so that you dont get the red color cast in your photos. (That is the easy bit) ok here is my theory: I should be able to load a pic onto the d70 that has a shade of green or blue that i want to set the white balance. This way i can get some different and funky colors with little effort The problem the d70 only likes to recognise photos/files that it has taken. It must recognize that the iptec (i think) data has changed...... Finally my question: Can anyone think of a way to trick the camera into letting me load whatever pic I want in there to set the white balance. I have tried the following.... Get a photo from the camera change it in photoshop or nikon capture Reload it back into the camera. Unfortunaltely this doesnt work. My next theory is that I should be able to update the iptec data so it looks the same as when it came out of the d70 and it will think it has taken the photo but I dont know how to achive this yet.... If you are still with me you must be able to think of something I have not. I will stop jibbering now.... Hope that it makes sense.
My first thought would be to take a ref pic with the D70 through a red or green filter and then set WB to the ref pic

What Chris said, except take a photo of a reference chart rather than a random scene. There's a link to a downloadable colour chart on our home page.

... or buy Peter iNova's D70 eBook which comes with a handy colour chart for setting strang WB effects as part of the jacket on the case. The book is darned good too
