Ugliest bird on EarthHeavily cropped from original. So much so that I didn't have to resize for the web

Sorry Kipper, Can't help it. I think it would be more at home in an episode of Star Wars. __________

Love the pic. It's great! I love the way the background looks as though moving everytime I look at it.
...or maybe I've just been staring at this monitor too long! Last edited by waspo on Sun Jun 19, 2005 11:13 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Arnt they also know as 'tip turkey's'? Love the background as most do, but that bird is just soooooo ugly! Jamie
And a huge pest. We have them moving en masse into the Brisbane CBD, and they are so greedy that they rob the food of all the other birds, even sparrows and seagulls. Because of their size and their beaks, they rifle through rubbish bins and leave garbage strewn everywhere. They orta be culled. (And I love animals.) Nice pic, however. TFF (Trevor)

Tip BudgiesI call 'em tip budgies (not turkeys) - turkeys can't fly like these can! Uglyness is in the eye of the beholder too, this is a very interesting exposure, highly original and well worth looking at many times. Well done, it's a goodie.

Hi Andrew,
Took your advise and tried a different crop. Only problem is, I found it hard to replicate the colour adjustments from the first one because I did them after cropping. Still not sure if this is an improvement though. __________

I'm amazed at just how much the different crop seems to change the image entirely.
Just had a play with a couple of other crops, cropped out the vertical drops on the extreme right and take off the bottom and it's a different feel... Great image though, still find it catching... Aka Andrew
I actually read an article on actions and some guy said before he modifies a picture he starts recording an action. Atleast that way he has every step he's taken to get to the end result and it's repeatable and configurable (ie. you can remove certain steps of the action so that you achieve only the desired result).

The ugly bird seems very happy with it's self......... and a better crop....
