Is there a way to find pics on your hard drive?Hi i was wondering if there is a easy way to search your hard drive for missing pics or folders with pics in them ? I know windowes media player can scan your hard drive for music and movies e.t.c. and tell you were to find them so was hoping there is a program that will do the same but hunt out jpg or raw e.t.c. pics and give you the link to were they are
I have ps2 and the adobe bridge program and pictrue project that comes with the d-70 if they are any help and i just not looking itn the correct part of the program Thanks Hame
Windows has a search function. It might take you a few searches depending on how many image file types you have on your drive, but if you set up a search request like this, under search all files and folders:
*.jpg Windows will search your drive for all JPEG files. The * symbol is shorthand for "every file of this file type" You would have to repeat for TIFF, NEF etc. Good luck TFF (Trevor)

you can also try picassa - program that is free from google. I use it for general sorting of photos etc...the first step in my workflow.
link here http://www.picasa.com/index.php when you first install it - it runs a search through you whole HD and catalogs everything. Joe

Thanks for the replys.
Just downloaded the Picasa2 program and its doing a search and it looks to be doing the job with preview of the pic . So thanks for the link jyt . Looks like another good program.. i see it has a back up button up the top right so now all i have to do is sort out the g-string clad lady pics from the family pics and burn them not on the same dvd!! Thanks also cricket fan .. i guess i was not thinking (a bit like the Australians over there in England ) and should have thought of the search in windows but this program at least shows you the pics its finding And Onyx its actually to try and find some pics i cant find from the Hong Kong trip 3 months ago i am sure i took....... they have great sighns over there that make you laugh ........i.e "Wan King Path " were me and my g/f brother and his friend stood under the sighn and droped the pants to make out we were doing what the local sighn said..lol .. Might send the pic to " Rove live " for a laugh (saved that one to a different folder as my 10 year old daughter and my parents might not see the funny side to it when replaying pics from the trip) The programs finished and i think everyone should get it as it even splits the pics up in to the year and month they were taken as well Thanks Hame
Sounds much quicker than a Windoze search TFF (Trevor)

your welcome hame.
It is a good program. you can set it up to watch only your picture folder on the computer and it will update as you go. Usual backup, email and slideshow functionality It also has basic fixes for colour, red eye, and effects which is generally all that i need. For special photos of course use PS but Picasa@ is pretty good for everything else. Cheers Joe
