How many VR lens owner (Our members only) in each States

Postby birddog114 on Wed Jun 22, 2005 8:08 pm

Hi All,
I would like to see the number of VR lens owner (24-120VR, 80-400VR, 70-200VR, 200-400VR) in each States of our D70Users.com (Australia Only).
Edit:
Me? 24-120VR/ 80-400VR/ 70-200VR/ 200-400VR
I am waiting for the 300/ 2.8 AF-S VR and looking ahead for the 400/2.8 AF-S VR if it's released in the third quarter of the 05.
I've been told 3 x new PRO lenses will be released and among them is the new 400 AF-S VR. Santa, where are you?

me - 24-120, 70-200.

Hmmm a 400 prime with VR - how big will this baby be. And it's 2.8.

Won't be cheap though.

A new 500 AF-S f.4 is around AU$8K+
Rumor is the new series of pro lens will have the new 400 and 600.
Yes, if it's true the 400/ 2.8 AF-S VR will be a very nice lens for bird watching with TCs.

If Nikon release a 500 and 600MM F/2.8 or F/4 VR lens I'll certainly be looking at it. However I bet it'll be going for a nice price of about $15k

Definitely no 500 VR as I got the info from good sources.
400 and 600 are the lenses which people are talking about.
Of course 600mm will be over 15k+ cos the 300VR which I'm ordering is 7k+ at HKG's price.

I know of one 70-200mm VR in the ACT.
I have also seen a 80-400MM VR at the Rallye of Canberra.

Lens lust is always around :)

This lens is out of my league. I am very happy with the AF-S 300mm f/4D IF ED. But is always nice to look at fast glass with VR capacity and with the permission of the owner do a few test shots.

A 600mm VR. Sounds very expensive. The 600 is one heavy lens anyway so even with VR i wonder whether you could handhold. Can only dream... :(

No, nothing will replace the 28-70, why should Nikon do it?
The 28-70 is one of their legendary lens.
Who said it's bulky on the D2x?

Nicole,
Who knows: perhaps the new generation of PRO lens will be lighter with a new and advanced techniques, so VR will be embeded into the lens.
Look back to the time line of Nikkor lens history: the old AI or AI-S lens then the D series and AF or AF-S, though Nikon do have the two versions of AF-S and AF-S II. The feature of VR perhaps will be expanded more into Nikkor line, but other issue: can we afford them or not?
As mentioned earlier: the Nikkor 300/2.8 VR is around AU$7K+ and it's the replacement of the Nikkor 300/2.8 AF-S II, the 500/ f.4 is less than AU$9K.
We can't afford them but a handful of Pro-photogs buying them as their tools of trade. I sold 02 x 500/f4 and 01 x 600/ f4 to just one guy, who's running a biz of doing works for National Geographics, sports.
