Thanks Glen. I was experimenting with a smaller aperture to get the suns rays through the tree.

Re: Mixed bag
Aaaah, now, this is what it is all about! We all have to start somewhere! #2 is brilliant IMHO, but the one in your other post taken slightly before it is even better!! The sun rays, the shadows the colours and the composition are all spot on....IMO! A beautiful, beautiful shot! Well done and please keep experimenting!
Nice shot of the sun in the park. Watch those empty foregrounds though. They can detract from good composition. I would have preferred to see the figure closer and walking towards the camera but that's a small point. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks guys. Matt, actually I didn't intend to have anyone in the pic. My wife walked in front of the camera during my test, so it's not really set-up probably the way it should be. Just a little aperture test. But, in saying that could the picture give the sense of mystery s to where the figure is going to? Just some thoughts. Thanks for the tips cause it's something I need to focus on to improve and keep in mind next time. Do you think it would be more effective if taken lower to the ground, perhaps picking up the leaves as part of a feature in the foreground?

Thanks guys. I really don't know too much so it's kind of trial and error at the moment. The Maggie pic was taken at Geelong botanical gardens along with the flower close-up. I have heaps of other shots, but it was fairly overcast and nothing really too spectacular to photograph. The lamp on the stone building was taken in the Dandenong rangers along with the tree branch close-up and sunrays one. Again, fairly uninteresting area to take photo's. I had to make the most of it.
Will try a few more and post at a later date. Cheers, Jase Jase - 'Motorcycle Gallery' - 'Car Gallery'
Hiya Was, well i like #2 and the last shot but actually they are all fine for sure, just those 2 appeal to me more. the flower has nice colours as well. I think you are doing well with your shots so keep up the good work and it is nice to experiment, thats the name of the game it's digital and dont matter because if it's not good delete it and try again.

G'day Jase,
All these have really interesting views but the stand out to me is that sun poking through the trees, good pick up on the aperture for the star effect, really like the person in the image, adds mystery and interest among shadowy frame... Love it. Aka Andrew

When I see a great scene like the park shot I then try and use it as a background for an extra picture element....such as a flash filled portrait, or a dog or a Harley bike etc. That way If I get lucky then I have an outstanding image that is different from the normal scenic image. This is not to say that your park shot is not excellent.....but by exploiting the image even further you take it one step higher. By the way, I am not always successful in doing the above, but when it works then it works very well. Sometimes I'll shoot the scene first and then try and load it up with extra elements. Just food for thought in the way my image construction process works. Also, I often put images like yours into a folder called "backgrounds", and at a later stage I might cut and paste a subject into it. I have a nice collection waiting for the appropriate subjects.
