this weeks experimentsJust got a RM72 infra red filter
with help from 'Nnnnsic' i got it working shot at Pier 2 Walsh Bay set the camera to manual, focused the scene, used matrix metering, auto whitebalance, 4 seconds, f/2.8 ISO100 then set the camaera to 10 second countdown, stuck the IR filter on i got a magenta and black toned image. PP in photoshop: greyscale then colour balanced it result: http://www.zeduce.org/images/experiment ... ra_BW1.jpg if anyone knows how to get colour results shown in the following thread i would like to know how, as my original image consisted of virtually no colour tones apart from magenta to black. http://www.d70users.net/viewtopic.php?p ... t=ir#30201 I took the following shot at The Rocks 30sec f/8.0 ISO100 http://www.zeduce.org/images/experiment ... Hey mate,
I also like the the first one a lot too. You have a thing for lights don't you mate (the third shot hehe)...well done though seriously, this would look great printed and framed, especially with the 1800 Geoff
Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
Seems your experiments were a success
Love the tree lights in the third image. Definitely from a different perspective Keep up the great work!
Wendell

Your shots are fine but remember that to get a really good representation of IR it works best with landscapes (i.e. nature) - cityscapes do not show the full effect of IR

-------------------------------- I started my life with nothing and I’ve still got most of it left
I guess the first shot is all about Location Location Location.
i just noticed too that IR produces a high contrast image that can later translate into a well balanced B+W image, i can't get the same contrast in a standard black and white shot, so i think i will be using IR to get great high contrast b+W shots rather than using it to capture white trees Geoff I do have a inkling for lights, i am after a certain aesthetic of tone and colour which i get from night shots. Thankyou everyone for your comments Wendell Levi Teodoro
