What to do with my nikkor 20-35 2.8D

Postby samester on Sat Jun 25, 2005 9:23 pm

Howdy,

I've owned a 20-35 nikkor 2.8D for a few years now, bought it locally new and have handled it like a baby - keeping it unmarked and in a dry box, only bringing it out a few times per year. Problem is that it was my first piece of serious glass and i was poorly advised (and a little naive) - the style of photography i do lends itself to longer lenses.

Ideally i'd love a 28-70 2.8 or a 17-55 just not too sure what to do with the 20-35. Never sold or traded something like this before, any suggestions as to how to go about getting the best deal, especially since i've cared for it better than i've cared for family!!

Thanks in advance,
Samester

Hi Samester,

As Loz said, put it in the For Sale section. If you still don't get any takers, try your hand at ebay.com.au. On the US site, they have one that is up to $255USD bidding. Not sure how much you want for it, but that would give you an idea.

Good luck,

Radar.

Is there any special way to get in there? I've got over 50+ posts and still can't access the section. :(

Because he won't be granted access unless and until he puts his location into his profile. :)

Waspo, I've just added you.

I wondered why do you want to get rid of that lens.
It's a very nice lens ( have one also) and quality built as metal shell, tack sharp, it was the first Nikkor zoom WA, the 17-35 and now is 17-55Dx.
What wrong with it?

nothing wrong with it birdy, sometimes i just need that extra bit of reach hence me thinkin the 17-55 would be more suitable.

maybe i'll stick it on the camera and leave it there for a few months then re-evaluate.

sam.

ps: have update my profile garry

Sam,

I'm with Birddog on this; play with the glass and see if you really want to lose it.

Profile update noted; thanx. I've now added you to the members group.
