Hi all,
Went to the Melbourne Zoo today to hook-up with Mudder (Andy), Mic and Dean to learn a few photography tips. Had a great time with them and learned alot more than I could ever imagine. These guys really know their stuff!
Thanks for helping a newbie out guys and look forward to meeting up with you again!
Anyway, filled a 1gig card so there's alot to sort through, but I thought I'd post one up for now.
It was really quite low light conditions for the shot and I had a hard time keeping the speed up and with no tripod it was tricky to keep photo's sharp at full zoom. (Note to self: Go by a monopod this week!)
In the shot:
Aperture Priority, ISO 800 (a bit noisey) 1/125@ f/5.6 70-210@ 210mm, Centerweight metering.

Hope to get a few more up this week.

G'day Jase,
Was good fun eh? I thought I didn't shoot much and still found over a hundred shots to go through doh...

The morning light was nice and soft lots of closed areas though due to works going on...

Was good fun with all the D70's wandering around huh... Sounded funny when they'd all go off trying to capture the same moment... :lol:

I was just processing a shot of the (Someone please correct me here) King fisher's in the tree, when I saw your thread... Couldn't help it could you, another butt shot :lol:

Edit: forgot to say, that's 210mm in dark conditions, and get this guys, *NO VR*.... Wow...

Hi Jase, Glad you had a good time mate and your are lucky you filled a 1 gig card, (wish i could do that) i always fill 3 cards 2.5gig when i am at the track, but i have got my process sorted out now so yes this is a nice looking picture,you have dione well.

Was interesting talking to the chap with the Bigma, always interesting chatting with other camera dudes at places like the Zoo... Pointed a few Nikon users to the site...

It was good to meet you and your partner Jase. It was a great day at the Zoo. Thje weather was great. It was good to catch up with Platunium Weaver again and his partner.
Thanks Muddder for picking me up and dropping off home. It was the first time I have been at a zoo from open to close

I filled a 1gig card AND a 512 mb card. I took a lot of shots to see what my "new" secondhand Tamron 200-400 could do.
Here are four of my efforts.

These are very good shots and the Tamron does the perfect of the long zoom lens for you. Put a VR behind it and you're a winner :wink:

That sparrow thing (the animal with wings, I'm not good with bird species's's :lol:

), is stunning Meic, the little mongrel didn't wait for me :cry:

I love the hair on the Zebra's snout in the dark background... I noticed that too, but have been slack and have only processed a few shots... Gotta pull the finger out, ooops dinner's burning!...
