SwansHi all,
Here's a shot I took from the Melbourne Zoo. I was surprised the way it came out. Comments appreciated. Cheers, Jase. Last edited by waspo on Mon Jun 27, 2005 8:44 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Thanks guys. I can't really see too well on this monitor, but I hope that fixed it.

really nice photo Jase. The contrast between the black background and the swans really helps to lift the photo....and the reflections are terrific !
The only thing I might do (which is just my personal preference) is to crop off some of the top of the photo so there isn't as much empty space above the swans....but I'm just being really fussy now. Great effort ! I knew I should have tried harder to make it to the Zoo on Sunday. Hopefully I'll make a D70 meet very soon (or should I now say dSLRUsers meet ???) Dave

Yes, you're so right about the crop. Hopefully that fixed it.
Dave, you should really try to make to the next meet. I could do with some more tips. keep up the good work! Cheers, Jase. Jase - 'Motorcycle Gallery' - 'Car Gallery'
Whoah Jase,
This is brilliant... The detail in the swans is well preserved, can see detail all over, wonder who's got the hang of centre-weighted metering huh? This looks terrific mate with the black background, very arty, very printable and frame-able Good tip about cropping the top too... Cheers. Aka Andrew
Thanks Andy.
It was an uncanny shot. Due to the centerweight metering the background got pretty much well blacked out. I just cloned out a few specks, painted a black overlay to smooth it out and that was about it. I'm pretty happy with the results. Thanks to you guys, I don't think I could have ever pulled something like this off myself! Thanks again, Jase. Jase - 'Motorcycle Gallery' - 'Car Gallery'
