William, go to adobe and download I think ACR 3.1 or is RAW 2.4? I believe it is the first, they will have the details listed on their site either as Nikon RAW or Nikon NEF plug in. I don't have CS2, but the details will be on their site and that is where the plug in comes from. Good luck

William - firstly, what type of PC are you using? With a Mac, the ACR3.1 does not go into file formats with the Photoshop folder. It has to be placed in Library - Application Support - Adobe - Plugins - CS2. What the procedures are for a PC I do not know. :D

Hi William,

This error message is what you get when trying to use the ACR 3.1 plugin with CS, which needs version 2.4. Are you sure you're running your newly installed CS2, and not CS by mistake?

Cheers

CS2 (AKA Photoshop 9) is the newest version of Photoshop, CS (version 8 ) is older. You can buy CS2 at an upgrade price if you already own CS, check the Adobe site.

Seems you have the plugin in the wrong place at a good guess, as I am sure you only place it in PS not image ready

good luck

from the Adobe site instructions for pc........ PSCS RAW 2.4......
To install:

Exit Photoshop CS.
Open My Computer.
Double-click Local Disk (C:).
Navigate to Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\File Formats.
If you have the Adobe Creative Suite, navigate to:
Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\File Formats.

Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 4.
Launch Photoshop CS.
