Wow - look at the ISO800 example, and indeed ISO1600. Very low noise characteristics IMHO! Looks good image-wise. With the features crippling to bring it down further in price than the D70, and on par with Canon's non-1 series cameras (how many command dials does a 350D/20D have; and the D50 retains spot metering)... It should compete well, but I know it won't. Sadly megapixels is the be all and end all to nearly everyone.
Paul - yes, the D70 can accept EN-EL3A cells. It's mentioned in the manual of the D70s (how ironic).
It's merely higher capacity, by 100mAh. Voltage and physical form remains exactly the same, so it should not cause any harm being used in a D70. Likewise the newer MH-18A charger.
Ah thanks for the info Oynx!
wile_E, just checked my MH-18 charger and it says that the output voltage is 8.4V. As i'm no sparky I've no idea if this unit can charge upto the higher rating of the new D70s battery. I don't have a D70s manual so I'm unsure what voltage the new MH-18a charger runs at. I guess it would charge it but just take a little bit longer time wise to hit a full charge. Nikon F80D, FM2n

You're a very bad man Birdy! No need for another body right now, still lusting hard for the 70-200VR but engaugement plans are severly hampering this lust. Pity there's no bridal registry for equipment from Birddog Nikon F80D, FM2n

I'm in the same club as you. The gift registry now that is an idea or would birddog accept gift vouchers or a washing machine instead?
Do you know that you're going to get the "life sentence", I've been down that road but too late now, just want you guys to get away with it if you could

The life sentence does have its advantages I have a plan, I should get her interested in photography also, so then we can "share" lens, flashes and whatever nikon accessory there is.
