Scanning 240 photos...

One of Bel's friend has approached me and asked if I could scan and store to DVD her wedding images from hard copy. I said I'd get back to her about it and do some 'research' - so here I am. Is there any 'quick' way of doing this, like to automate it? I have a reasonable flat bed scanner, but individually scanning 240 photos would take forever. Anyone got any smart ideas? Cheers,

Also is the prints in an album? or loose? Make sure there is not copyright issues with the original photographer.

Yup, she has the negs - and there's no copyright concerns

Shop around and pay someone to do it.

Does she want it at a high rez? or just 6x4 @300dpi?

I had my wedding negatives scanned at the local photo shop and it was extremely expensive...

Not sure what type of flat-bed scanner you have, but my Canon has a multiscan feature that allows you to scan four 6x4 prints at the same time and then it splits them up into different images...

Alternatively, you might want to see if you can borrow a negative scanner... What film format are they?

I think they're just standard 6x4 film prints, she has the negs too but I will look into that multiscan function, as the scanner that I have access to is a canon. Thanx leek and shutterbug. Oh yeah, I think she only wants them at 300dpi, just to store/show on PC.

Fletchers scans a roll (36) for about $5-$10. Res is 6x4 @ 300dpi. Good enough to make reprints to 5x7 size.

Why does she want to scan them to DVD? To make slide show, email..archive etc so the above res should be enough. If she wants enlargements..she has the negs. The negs will probably last long then all of us an dthe DVD. Just keep them in a safety deposit box in a bank.

I think she want's them as archive AND to view them on the PC if/when she wants to..
