What are people using for viewing photos on DVDI'm in the process of backing up photos onto DVD+ (using nero burnt as data disk two folders containing around 700images in each) but when the DVD is put into the drive it has trouble reading or freezes while trying to acess the images.
currently using Acdsee v7, Desktop is pent 2.8, 1gig ram, 360gb HDD, 256mb vid card, DVDRW+/-, DVD rom, CDRW. Laptop is an Aspire 3000 series, AMD Sempron 1.6, 256mb ram, 40gb HDD,CDRW/DVD rom drv. both have the same probs while accessing DVD. Can I ask what you all use and have the best results with.
Fine. I use it for all image viewing as it is the fastest to open images. never had any trouble reading pictures from DVD's although I did burn a DVD full of mp3's the other day and am having issues with that.

Leigh This just plain shouldn't happen unless the media you are using is crap or there's something wrong with your burner. It's certainly NOT a Nero problem so either way I doubt using different software will resolve this. For me I won't use anything but Princo -R in my Sony drive since I've found they work reliably and cost around the 50c mark on eBay. BEfore settling on them I bought a few sample packs of assorted branded discs and tried them for write and reread performance on my system. I'd suggest you investigate this first. Peter

I use Nero and burn anything as "data". Got no problem accessing the pictures. I only had problems when I had a Sony burner, now I use a Pioneer burner and Sony, Verbatim or TDK DVDs. Even when the DVD is full there is no hesitation.

glamy, what do you use to view your pics?
Can I ask how many folders and how many files in average folder? My burner is a Samsung it has been alright burning most data cd's/dvd's until now trying to burn large amounts of photo's onto one dvd.
Leigh,
if I burn psd, I'll use photoshop. Tiff and Jpg can be read by any software. I usually fill up the discs in any combination (folders and pictures, pictures only or folder(s) only) and have no problem. In Nero, do you select cd/dvd, or dvd only?Just a thought... Cheers, Gerard Are you using -RW or -R ?
