Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I spent ages trying to find a picture i liked and i thought was worthy of posting in here. The i realised that the photo i had been useing for my desktop was maybe good enough. :p

I took this from a small boat on Great Oyster Bay at the Freycient Peninsula in Tassmaina.

The smaller size image dosnt do it justic imho.

It's a cool shot. Looks like a fish, only bigger. :)

FWIW, I wouldn't worry about finding photos that you think are worthy. I don't think that's what this place is all about. It's not a competition here, it's just a bunch of folks that enjoy sharing photos. :D

Post the shots that you are happy with or the shots that you want to use to learn how to make them better. Photos are as much art as anything, in general. As such, some people will like what is posted, others will not. NBD. :P BTW, I tried to look at your full size image, but got a 404 error.

I kind of knew that, but i'm in awe at most the pictures posted here and it might take me a while to get over my Britsh reserve and think my pics are worth posting :wink:

That is a very nice capture. You might like to rotate it and recrop it to get the horizon horizontal. I think that would help the image. Do you know how to rotate to get the horizintal vertical using the ruler tool in PS?

no :( and i use the gimp and dont know how to in that. But i will have a play and see what i can do

This is a good capture anyone would be proud of. No wonder you have it on your desktop (BTW - my picky eyes notice a dust bunny in the sky above the mountains - the anal bastard in me forces me to suggest you think about cloning the DB out :lol: )

OK - very quickly (PM me for more details)

Use the "measure tool" found under the eye dropper tool drop down on the tools pallete. (It looks like a ruler.)

Zoom into the horizon and draw a line across the horizon. Go to "rotate canvas" unde the image drop down and choose "arbitrary" and then you will notice that there is a number alleady there. Click Ok and bob is your uncle. No probs. Let me know how you go.

I have rotated it and removed the DB and it looks a lot better :D

You have the same mental problem I do. With the quality of a lot of the pics posted here, it makes me feel like I have to have something pretty special before I will post it. I am trying to get over this though :)

My only nits were the horizon and the bunny on the hill. Other than those (fixed) issues, a lovely shot.
