Printing my images is a relatively rare occurrence, but when I do, I use my Epson R1800.

I won a $3000 canon inkjet printer (w2200). Essentially is a A3 printer that has all the bells and whistles. Although, I cant figure the color management system for it. gives out wrong and horrible looking photo's. I've been through all their profiles and preset. It just doesnt work!

My el cheapo epson does a much better job.

Hence, I print in labs now. My fav shots will got to a pro lab.

An EPSON 2100 and EPSON 7600 and my system is kept in profile by using Eye one Photo.......the results are fantastic.........

I voted the second last one, but if you have a look at digital print prices at nulab in Melbourne you will find its not that expensive

6x4 - I send it to a photo place at a shopping centre.

Anything larger I send it to a different printing place as it's cheaper

I've been shooting Digi since 2000. In that time I've printed 13 pictures, all are A4 and sit on my wall. They have been printed on a colour laser @ my work (SHHHHH )

I have no desire to print my photos out.

I send them to friends via e-mail(to show them), or put them on my website.

I currently print mine at Harvey Norman. I tried a local store, but they were twice the price. Mind you, I have only printed 6"x4"and am happy enough with them. If I was to go larger I might look into a "pro"lab.

I actually do not print my own photos, reason being.... I think it works out heaps cheaper for me to have photos individually printed at Teds... or other photo developing places.......

I print mine on my Canon i9950, usually 2 to an A4 sheet. Any ones I really like I print to A4 size. Any I think are great I print to A3 or A3+.

I won it from a magazine subscription. Yes its a waste, but it okay because the ink costs are cheap but not cheap. i.e. print per page is cheap but the cost for the cart is out of this world.

Really, $90 per 80 mL ink tank and there are five of them! Thats $450 to replace!

im guessing they arent in shopping centers and close to train stations

I only print when I need on A4 or A3/ A3+ and on my Epson 2100/ soon will be with the Epson 2400 (It's still in the box, haven't got time to open and experiment with it yet)

I did some research and found that the Canon, as an all-in-one printer/scanner etc, came out better for me.

The Epson is fun for printing A3 stuff though. Would love to get one later.

after getting the photos i wasnt really impressed with any
they looked so much better on my pc screen

should i try a 'pro lab' ?
i have no idea where to find them though or what they are

what would be the price difference from minilab to pro lab on a 4x6 or 5x7?

wow. . up here in the states I gotta say I've been very happy with wal-mart for everything up to 8x10. They use a fuji machine to process the shots and they're ready in 1 hr.

There's been a few times when the contrast seemed to have been 'boosted' and detail got washed, but you can always refuse the shots at pickup without paying.

Do you have your monitor calibrated ?? If so, is it calibrated to reflect the printer that is being used ?? I dare say that the prints do not look the same (or as good) as what you see on your monitor because the "profiles" are different.

If you do a search on monitor calibration, both in this forum and on the net, there will be a far better explanation outlining this issue.

I take my 5 x 7 or 6 x 8s to Costco. They develop in around 20 minutes (have a stroll round the store whilst they develop them). They also supply the ICC profile for their machine if you fancy getting a bit more involved.

If I want something bigger I get them run off at work on this. It prints out over a meter wide onto a roll, ideal for those 'large' panaramas!! We've six of these beauties so sneaking the odd pic through every so often is no problem.

I print mine on my Epson R800. For larger than A4 size I use a local print lab (next door to work) and get fantastic results.

I wish I could get the R1800 but space is limited and I wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost.

I print mainly family snapshots, I find it easier to share this way when we meet... Always on the lookout for the Internet promotion! I also printed a few 8 * 12, especially during the $2 Teds promotion.

I use a Canon i865. It does a great job. I refill my own ink so it's cheap.
It's important not to skimp on paper. A friend put me onto Fujifilm Premium Plus photo paper. 20 A4 sheets from Hardly Normal, for $19.95.
235GSM so quite thick.
I also use Canon Matte photo paper MP-101.
Also Canon Glossy Photo Paper GP-401 which is 190gsm and 50 sheets costs $32.95 from HN.
Family want heaps of niece/nephew photos so its great to be able to print my own. And they're rapt with the results.
I also burn CDs for them to watch thru their DVD players and I print a mosaic of photos onto the CD label with this printer. Works great, and very impressive results. Canon CD Label Print came with the printer (or the Canon web site, can't remember).

I use an Epson R800 with Epson consumables. My preferred paper is the Epson Premium Semigloss for great results.
