NEF Processing

Postby noli on Tue Nov 16, 2004 7:51 pm

hi all,

im just starting to learn to shoot in raw on my d70 having got mine just recently. i know that you need nikon capture or photoshop cs to be able to open the raw files and do the adjustments. i only use photoshop 7 now.

* if i open the raw/NEF file using the 30-day trial copy of nikon capture [that came with my d70 kit], i get a bunch of "tool" menus that will allow me to adjust so many parameters in the raw file.

* if i open the raw/NEF file under photoshop 7 using the command "open as" [NEF], i only get the option to adjust white balance and EV.

1. how can i let the other tool menus appear if i work my image under photoshop 7?
2. do i really have to purchase nikon capture just for those tool menus?
3. are there no other work-arounds except to upgrade to photoshop cs or elements 3?
4. when my trial copy of nikon capture expires in 4 days, will i just be left with the option to adjust WB and EV when accessing the raw file under photoshop 7?

sorry for so many questions. will appreciate any help here since it will be very costly to upgrade to other photoshop versions or purchase nikon capture. thanks in advance.

cheers!

Noli,
If you do the search in our forum with the word: Nikon Capture or NC or Allan you'll find the post with serial number for Nikon Capture.
Enjoy yourself, if you can't find it please PM me.
