Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

This image of Wendell's does it for me this week. I love the subtelty of the colours, and just the general softness and the total abstractness of this image.

Yeah after seeing Wendels shots I was like "ummh, I so want one" :)
Then after playing with Nikon Boys D2X it really did it for me.

Great shot Wendell, nicely realised.

Don't get me wrong in any way here, but it
kind of shows the importance at looking at your
stuff carefully. A quick glance through thumbnails
might have seen this one missed or rejected
as OOF or similar.

That's a very good point; this could have been so easily overlooked when looking through one's output from the day, and yet ....

Thankyou everyone, you have been consistent fans
I will endeavour to experiment more

this image is abstracted heavily therefore there is no specific subject matter.
maybe you should have another section called 'abstraction of the week'

I will be posting a composition tutorial thread soon, I have learned a few things in my experiments that will help make your compositions even more imapctful

might as well contribute some useful info back to the forum

It'd be good to have POTM with say 5 or so categories (abstract, architectural, nature, landscape, portrait, sport). Get a person to submit their best shot or best 3 shots. I dunno, just a thought.

While this is probably not the thread to be discussing this, I'm not entirely sure what a POTM would accomplish.

Congrats to Wendell, deserving POTW. To Kipper's suggestion of POTM, I tend to agree with Leigh on this one, I'm not sure what it would achieve either. I think we should stick with our winning formula of POTW :). Great choice Gary too!

Love this abstract image. Very sensual. The colours melt and drip and there's a smoothness to the image that soothes the eye. You got it dead right.
