Picture of the Week - July 12, 2005This image of Wendell's does it for me this week. I love the subtelty of the colours, and just the general softness and the total abstractness of this image.
Click here for a larger version. The original thread was here. Congratulations, Wendell, well done. g.

Congrats Wendell. Nice abstract - an experiment that worked well.

Scott, I believe that it is. Have we had a Canon PotW yet? Petal? Bob? g.

An excellent choice Gary!
Congratulations Wendell! A brilliant abstract image. I remember the first time I saw it.......WOW! !
Great shot Wendell, nicely realised.
Don't get me wrong in any way here, but it kind of shows the importance at looking at your stuff carefully. A quick glance through thumbnails might have seen this one missed or rejected as OOF or similar. Good choice Gary Greg - - - - D200 etc

Greg,
That's a very good point; this could have been so easily overlooked when looking through one's output from the day, and yet .... g.

Thankyou everyone, you have been consistent fans
I will endeavour to experiment more this image is abstracted heavily therefore there is no specific subject matter. maybe you should have another section called 'abstraction of the week' I will be posting a composition tutorial thread soon, I have learned a few things in my experiments that will help make your compositions even more imapctful might as well contribute some useful info back to the forum
It'd be good to have POTM with say 5 or so categories (abstract, architectural, nature, landscape, portrait, sport). Get a person to submit their best shot or best 3 shots. I dunno, just a thought.
Darryl (aka Kipper)
Nikon D200
While this is probably not the thread to be discussing this, I'm not entirely sure what a POTM would accomplish.

Nup, and I fully understand, but I highly doubt that neither "Abstraction of the Week" nor "Picture of the Month" are really needed.

Congrats to Wendell, deserving POTW. To Kipper's suggestion of POTM, I tend to agree with Leigh on this one, I'm not sure what it would achieve either. I think we should stick with our winning formula of POTW . Great choice Gary too!
