I read somewhere that the new Minolta Dslr uses CF cards but also comes with an adaptor for SD cards. Does anyone know if there is such a thing for nikons?
I wonder what would be the chance of the minolta one fitting the D70?

Are there any benefits with SD cards?

Phillipb:
Yes you can, source a converter for SD or say SD to CF adapter, it's available.
GregB;
Yes, it's benefit of sharing the SD card with your D70, but SD is more expensive than CF BTW.

Useful if you already have SD cards, as I do, from my P&S camera.
Birddog, can you point me in the right direction of where I can find one?

They're in Victoria, check with them, I pointed my customers to them for same questions.

Thanks Birddog, I've checked them out and you can get an adaptor for $47.00 I think I'm going to get one.

Thanks for this guys. I've just ordered one. I have some SD memory from a Canon Video camera that I never use. For $42 I've made it useful again.

Ajio43:
The $42 adaptor is only for type 1 it says that the sd card doesn't fully fit in the adaptor, you may have problem closing the D70 door. I could be wrong but I think I'll go with the type II to be sure.
One other thought, I wonder how the camera would react if you leave the adaptor in and only take out the SD card?

Then exactly the same when you remove the full size CF card, the adapter is just a dummy.

I thought that the grey button that you use to push the card out of the camera works as a switch, if that's the case then the switch would still be on when you leave the adaptor in.

Philipb, a gig of CF can be had for $100, unless you have a lot of sd cards the adapter may not be good value

Out of curiosity Glen, where can you get 1 gig for $100?
The other advantage of the adaptor is that you wouldn't have to worry about damaging the contacts of the camera, assuming that you can leave the dummy in permanently.

The grey button is just the ejector to eject the CF card and is not the switch.
