Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Found myself wandering around the University of Queensland yesterday and had a hard time deciding where to point the camera. A beautiful Brisbane day brought about some interesting lighting contrasts and I hope to get back there sometime soon when I've figured out the best way to handle them. Here are some images that survived the post-processing cull; I'd love to hear your impressions.
"Light and Shade" is a crop from a much larger shot and, unfortunately, suffered in the process. I found my eye was naturally drawn to the contrasts here so thought it was more worthwhile as an image in its own right.
"Pillars of Learning" is a view from under the Steele Building looking out into the Great Court.
"Ups and Downs" is a set of fire escape stairs that really appealed to my liking of stark, concrete jungle inhabitants.
"Fountain" speaks for itself. An oasis amongst the sandstone.
"Fountain - Colour Centre" was an experiment with some deliberately blown highlights and the history brush to bring some colour back.

Good shots Manta, I particularly like the contrast in the first one. pity about the image quality thou... UQ is a a huge campus with heaps of architecture to shoot.

Here are the original images (sized down substantially from RAW).
The first is from where "Light and Shade" was cropped and the second is the unaltered "Pillars of Learning" - I didn't like the ceiling lights and the plant growing out of the wall so I made them go away in the final image.
