Trying out D2HA colleaque came in today with his daughter. Taken this picture with D2H and 17-80 kit lens. ISO 1600. Don't have flash. Handheld. Poor lighting conditions. Processed the pic in PS, denoise applied. It's very heavy and big. It would take a while to get used to. regards, Arthur
The D2H is heavy and big?
Wow, I didn't really remember it being like that when I used it. Also the D2X might be big but I also don't recall it being heavy. It seemed to balance out well with the lenses I used. Btw, great shot. Darryl (aka Kipper)

I have not handled one (the D2H) but I do remember the weight of the FE2 plus motor drive plus flash as being prettyhefty. The D70 plus SB800 is a much more manageable proposition, but then it is not as well made as the D2H. BTW, I love the photo.

Pologies Birddog!!
I was overawed by the Aladdins cave and that enormous lens you had on show. BTW the 50mm 1.4 I got through you is such a nice lens, I am so glad I got it and followed your advice. Will have to start saving for the next item. l used the 1gb cards at a conference this week I was helping to organise, they were excellent. Looking forward to seeing you at the anniversary. All of the pro series Nikons from the D1 thro to the D2X are heavy compared to the D70. But, they are pro bodies

Agreed Birddog, but is it really worth the $7-8k you payed for it when you can pick up a D2H for $1400AU (not sure total cost of importing one buy I've seen them for $1000US). I mean a D2H if you can manage to fill the whole sensor with your subject will get you 12x8 at 200DPI. I know I wouldn't really be shooting anything bigger.
I really like the D2H and it's very tempting to swap over from the D70. However I'd like something similar to the D2H that shoots 6 or 8mp. Just so you've got a bit of room to crop down to 2400x1600. Darryl (aka Kipper)

Yes, it's worth it at the price tag $7-8K, no doubt! Once you had for few days and experiment with, and you'll never part it. Pls. take my words. BTW, the D2h ain't bad with the way of its economical price tag and its performance, I still keep mine same as my D100. Birddog114

WHile it's certainly not a D2X, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of the images that the D2H is capable of. Matt K has used Birddog's, and printed out a couple of magnificent images from it. Fan-bloody-mazing, to coin a phrase. g.

i wouldn't mind a d2h for 1400aud, considering i usally print off 8x10/8x12 print, throw in noise ninja and your off!l

HI
Feels like a brick. Super responsive especially on continous fps. Just press the shutter for half a second, the camera just fire away - as many as 4 shots. 512MB is not going to be enough. At least a 2GB CF card would be needed. Just came back from photoshoot. D2H feels very re-assuring as each shot is taken so quickly - almost instaneous. Metering is alot more accurate than D70. White balance is so good that i don't have to check anymore. regards, Arthur
Arthur, very very pleased that you are happy with your new purchase

HiI have no regrets whatsoever getting this D2H. There 2 key features that i sorely missed in D70.
1. Playback magnification - super. Zoom into almost the pixels level. Absolute must for macro. 2. Manual focusing. ">" "O" "<" to tell you which way to turn and exactly when focus is achieve. This really make us reconsider buying manual focus lens. regards, Arthur
Those things the D2 series have and as I said: once you played with it, you won't ever want to touch the D70 again. Birddog114
