Hard life as a Meerkat
Aren't Meerkats the cutest? I could just sit and watch them for ages... Looks like the one laying back is comfy
I watched them being fed at a couple of zoos, and they were climbing over the keeper trying to get at the food. One Zoo gave them meally grubs (spelling?) and the other zoo was giving them mice cut in half out of a chinese take-away container Aka Andrew
We all have to eat something i guess. They are the cutest animals though mudder. Only surpassed by otters.
BTW thanks for your comments. Here is one more of the fatty (too much chinese take away mice) and the skinny one (on guard)

Feel free to rip into them if you want to critique them. Looking back I think i got carried away with their cuteness and forgot to look out for the harsh shadows, and broken branches, etc. By the way the photos were taken in April 2005, i just had the wrong date entered into my camera and i am too lazy to change it manually.
Maybe it's my deprived sence of humour but picture no 4 looks like he/she is touching themselves..

G'day W,
That's a great pose I could just sit and watch while I rattle off a gazillion shots on these guys trying to get "the pose"... Their fur seems really subject to sharpening effects (try the highpass filtering, I find it less susceptible to those crunchy edges) and hard with the highlights and shadows but they're just so much fun 
These guys look like Laurel and Hardy Aka Andrew
