Palm Beach Sunrise Shoot

This was from Sunday morning 17/7/05. All taken with the kit lens. I have sharpened the images (Beginner at Photoshop) and resized. I may have gone too far with the sharpening. I didn't change any colours etc. Added the signature Block (Thanks Matt K for the Tutorial). 
Seeing as I can't enter the latest contest (The Decisive Moment), this might have been my entry.  Warwick

Welcome again to the forum and congratulations on some excellent photos. I think my favourites would be the 3rd and 4th images, but I agree with the over sharpening, especially on the 34rd one. Over all though mate you're well on the way! Keep on posting. These images really aren't too bad coming out of a canon..hehehe!  Geoff

How do I know whenI have oversharpened the shots? Is there a good "rule of thumb"?
The 3rd shot looks like that from the camera ( the clouds that is ) It's almost like the Canon couldn't handle the colours, and made them up as it went along ( Nikon users, insert witty comment here -> ). Maybe if I shot in RAW it would have been different? Like I said, have no Idea on how to use the camera / setting to have. Or photoshop. Cheers Warwick

Great captures. Love the 3rd one. As for sharpening. I personally try to apply as little PP sharpening to the image as I can. If it isn't sharp out of the camera, then I reckon I have done something wrong.
