That cloud is awesome. I love the way you have made it appear larger by the perspective of the buildings and the SHB. Great work.

WOW! These are just fantastic Wendell. The lighting is just gorgeous, and the cloud in the last one is simply stunning! I'm a huge fan of the kit lens too, and your brilliant photographic skills!
Thanks Everyone, it's a pleasure sharing, I hope my work helps people in a way.
Killkoalla, the cloud shot was taken at 18mm, which produces a dramatic perspective Stormygirl, I will soon be posting a composition tutorial, there are some simple guidlines like aligning lines to a corner of the frame to make an image look more composed, and many other tips on lighting and tonal balance. In the meantime if you strudy my images you can learn a few things. Great weather always helps though one should always chase good light. Rain, water and reflections also adds a dynamic dimension to a scene. one trick i like is shooting at 400th of a second in bright light f8 ISO100 white balance 5600K and over produces a high contrast moody image

These shots blow me away. They are by far the best group of shots I've seen you post. Makes me lust for a D2X (and some of your composition skills ) Peter

Wendell,
It's been said as above, but I have to say these shots really stand out as some of your best work...and your eye for detail/composition is great! Keep up the excellent work, and if the D2X ever gets too heavy for you, I will gladly look after it for you . Geoff

Awesome shots. I particularly like the soft tones and the compositions. Very well done.

Wendell,
excellent! And that's an interesting idea about the moody settings. I especially liked the droplets on the bollard, (or winch top?) Bob

For purposes of comparisonI havedn't used the Canon kit lens much, well hardly at all, but thought I'd try to find a similar subject to give people a comparison - similar detail and skyscape.
I suspect it'll confirm the beliefs of our friends with Nikons. Bob
