Well, we have had 2 months to go! and decisive moments are everywhere, anytime.

We should achieve our goals as we achieved the great results in our first year of this forum, over thousand members and less than 60 pics, so what's the ratio?

That's the whole reason for having a theme at all and whilst there will no doubt be some stunning shots, it's unfair to vote up an image based just on that criteria if it isn't apparent how it addresses the theme. My votes will be theme-based first, technical quality second.

Yep! vote for or with the theme first as we had the decision when we started this challenge.

Any photo is not in the theme then will be last. Quality, technical or other involments are not counted in as first priority.

Of course.. the problem is that we all may have a different idea of what the theme means..

See I think of the decisive moment as being a moment that is important for either the subject or the viewer... others I think focussed more on the fact that the phrase 'snapshot' was used in the article.. and while their shots might be technically brilliant, if there's no easily apparent meaning or message in the image....

Hi,

I found that going to have a read again of that original article that was posted in regards to "The Decisive Moment" very useful to put the photos back in context of the theme.

Just a suggestion, but could be worthwhile to put that link on either/both of the challenge page and voting page.

Theme is set by Flyer in the original opening post... Whatever entrants make from there is up to them...
IMHO there is no such thing as objective critiquing.. you like what you like

No, I don't think that's what Scott was saying. I think his comment was more along the lines of "some images are significantly better than others".

Everyone should vote for every photo - it is a grading system. It is also generally accepted that you will give your own photo the highest grading (although not compulsory!). If everyone does this, then it seems to work out about right

Heartily agree with you. I don't think that anyone would look at the bloodiest of the shots and think that the photographer was actually doing that. If nothing else it would make it damn hard to pick up the prize if they/he/she/it/me/you/my mum/your mum ( protecting anonymity ) won..
