Couple more Zoo shots

Here are a couple more shots that I took at the Melbourne Zoo on Monday. Taken with the Tamron 200-400.

I really like the 2nd & 3rd shots, the first doesn't do much for me, sorry.

They do, however, seem to be a little soft. What was the EXIF info on these shots ??

I really need to try and get to the zoo sometime soon. Seeing all these pics you guys have been posting over the last few weeks, it is inspiring me to get out there and take some of my own.

Monday would have been a terrific day for the Zoo, especially in the morning light.

The Meerkats are just the coolest guys, I'm also wondering about the backgrounds, shots #1 and #2 seem quiet noisey, what ISO was used and did you push the levels or "brightness" in PP?

Thanks for your comments guys. Andrew, I did have to adjust the WB and the exposure in the shots. For some unknown reason all the shots were very 'cold'. The camera WB was set to Auto. To me, the noise in the out of focus areas doesnt seem to bad. It is like the grain that you get get using a 400 ASA film. I think that it is more obvious in the these shots because I had to adjust the exposure and the WB in the post-processing. Which is unusual, I usually dont have to play around too much with those.
And Andrew, the place was full of year 1 & 2's. At least the secondary school pupils get out of your way when they see the long lens. Almost lost my grip on the monopod once when a kid cannoned into me

Was the exposure in PP positive (eg +x.x?)? I've been shooting a bit up to ISO800 lately on dull days at the Zoo and found a bit of noise but I Neat Image'd the backgrounds (or Gaussian blurred by a couple of pixels) just thought might have been high ISO due to a low light.

Love the Meerkat shots! Great capture and so cute I wanna squash 'em!
Just a quick question, if you shoot in a high ISO and had perfect exposure, would you get relatively negligible noise happening? I notice when I shot ISO1600 on a frog at Healesville, it looked quite clean until I tried pushing the exposure or brightening etc. Hi ISO's look fairly usable if caught in the right exposure. Any thoughts?

Jase, You are quite correct. If the exposure is spot on, noise should not be a problem with the D70 (well, up to 800 anyway.) As I said, for some reason my recent pics at the Zoo were not as well exposed as I would have liked.
I have taken some great sharp pics with the Tamron, so it must have been me this time.
