Resubmitted opera house shot. Nikon 50mm not used ;-)I cloned out some of the palm tree branches and don't dislike it as much as my previous post, in fact I've printed it out at A4 and it's growing on me. Cheers

What I particularly like about this shot is the balance of light between the Opera house and associated buildings and the arch itself - well done

I like the composition a lot The arch frames the opera house nicely.

I have never seen the OH photographed from this viewpoint before, and that immediately makes it an interesting pic for me. Not being from Steak-&-Kidney, I haven't a clue where the vantage point is.
In addition to that, the image itself is quite good good, although I would be tempted to retry at an earlier time because a bit more detail in the sky would make it fabulous IMHO. But my initial feeling is that originality wins the day. TFF (Trevor)

Thanks for the positive comments guys.
I'd love to see a local have a go at this, and not be rushed. For me it was the end of the night and it was more of a "this might be an interesting shot" kind of moment. Whoever goes for the shot, make sure you take an assistant to hold the palm branches out of the way. Cheers

John, have taken the same shot from the same point (couldn't very well take it from outside with all the barbed wire on top, the way of the world these days) and don't think yours can be topped. Will see if I can find mine for comparison but remember the branches peeved me. Great shot.
