Hey, I have been exploring this type of shots quite a bit recently. I thought I could share with couple observations. First of all you dont have to keep camera still and horizontal. You can move, wave, rotate, twist, everything. Think about camera as a brush and light as a paint. And do your painting. Secondly you can use multiple exposure with your digital camera. How? Easy. Set exposure time for lest say 30s. Make first exposure with your subject for 10, hide lens and when second subject comes unhide and expose again. How it could works see on my shot belowe (plus couple others). Just play with that techniques. Result usually are not too much predictable Regards, K.Polak
yeap, you can do some neat stuff. The pics of mine above were taken from the back seat of a car over about 10-30 seconds with no particular effort to keep the camera still, I even zoomed in a couple of them for a while.
This was done with the camera on a tripod using the IR remote in bulb mode. Point the camera at a wall and write whatever you like with a torch, in this case I used an LED torch which has a nice fluro blue glow to it. L. What sort of remote is it?? I only have one button on my remote "If your pictures aren't good enough, you're probably not close enough." Robert Capa.

These types of images are usually quite abstact and colourful.
If a less random effect is desired, it can be achieved by zooming in and/or out during the time exposure. Reflections of lights from a wet pavement or an oil slick are also effective. Good work guys. TFF (Trevor)

I have the standard ML-L3(?) remote. If you put the camera in bulb mode the IR remote will open the shutter on the first press and close it on the second... much easier than having somone else hold the on-camera button down for the duration.
