Indeed it does.

But it looks as if they've left out the decimal point in the stated value of the 70-300G.

I saw an ad in the paper for these kinda deals, it stated D50 kit plus [something] by redemption, looks like Nikon is struggling to shift units to me - this early on in its model life - little wonder too compared to the pricing on the D70s.

I don't know if they're struggling to sell them, but perhaps it is more to do with the money back that Canon are offering on the 350XT.

This really makes you wonder what the production cost of a SB600 probably some thing like $30--$40 ???? and the difference between a 600 and 800 most likely $2.00

Actually, this is little different from last year, when in July/August they did the cashback on the SB800 and a couple of other toys as well.

Although I will accept that the value of these offers is (on the surface) somewhat greater than last year's offerings.

Here we go:

Actually, first Canon got the messages from Canoner about the review on DPR of D50 vs Canon 350XT. Cash back from Canon try to get consumer to go to Canon side, and now time for Nikon strikes back.

Birddog We manufactured a press for a very well known sun glass company for $250000 their pay back was 26 weeks .The frames cost $0.50 to manufacture and retail $80 yes I am a cynic Another example A Holden Monaro GTO in Australia $90000 retail USA $40000 typical 25% mark up = $30000 cost ex factory We really pay for our life style .

Just to clarify pippin88 - the gift by redemption deals are as follows:

Buy D50 and 18-55 lens, get 70-300G from Nikon.
Buy D50, 18-55 and 55-200, get SB600 from Nikon.

I'm assuming Albey got D50 with 18-55 and 70-300G as a Camerahouse package, plus qualifying for another 70-300G from Nikon.

2x 70-300G = what to do? ;)
