Bunya Mountains Sunset

A recent trip to the Bunya Mountains (about 3 hours north-west of Brisbane) with the Brisbane Camera Group yielded some beautiful views. Hopefully I've been able to do them some justice.

Nice colours and nice capture but I'd be tempted to crop the majority of the bottom of the image off as it's too black in my opinion. Make it more of a panoramic format.

Thanks for the comment Owen and I have to say I agree with you. Unfortunately, I tend to 'panorama-ise' a lot of my landscape images and I wanted to see how some go without the crop. Guess I know now....

very nice image ....... but would like to see a deeper than normal pano crop to reduce some of the black foreground and to make the setting sun more of the focus point......

Hi Bernie - good to hear you're still safe and sound over there.

On the advice of yourself and Owen, I've made the necessary adjustments and agree that I should have gone with my initial instincts - the panorama crop.

I think it looks a good deal better now.

(Tose who didn't see the original image may wonder what we're now talking about....)

Thanks for your comments Kerry and Craig - there wasn't much I had to do to this shot except point the D70 at it. The Big Guy upstairs handled most of the colour processing!

Looking good Manta. I didn't realise but you took that at ISO 800... I'm impressed with the lack of noise, especially in the darker regions of the image. Good job.

Hi all..... safe and well..... I am still doing patch work before painting, but things should be a lot quicker from now as my son has some time off work...... When we go out it is by car or a 10 minute walk to Portobella Road barrow markets for fruit and veg and the local shops. Last week we were in this area when the police raid took place, but life here just went on. Also the Stella beer is served cold and goes down a treat.

Yeah Owen - it was pretty dark. The push on the ISO gave me a few extra minutes of shooting time. I was lucky with noise - I didn't have to use any reduction tricks at all. This is straight out of the camera except for a slight levels adjustment, a little sharpening and the pano crop.
