Not your text book flower shotTaken today in the Royal National Park south of Sydney. No macro, 200mm at 2.8:
If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??
Love the sharpness and clarity, but I think the background overwhelms the flower. Maybe a tighter crop would help.
I can't put my finger on it, but the background just doesn't complement the flower to me. I'm wondering if the flower fell lower in the bg, like under the arch in the trees if it would be framed better. Anyway, don't mind me, I'm just rambling about things I know nothing about trying to reply on the topics where nobody else has bothered. -Rich D70, 18-70 DX, Sigma 70-300 APOII, Nikkor 50mm 1.4D, SB800, Bogen 3046 w/Manfrotto 322RC2 ballhead, Lowepro Nova 2 AW
I really like how the background colour contrasts with the red of the flower. I think it works perfectly. Even though the background is 'cluttered' it is all out of focus nicely so the attention isn't drawn away from the flower.
